Local Jewelry Designer found at Venice Beach: Beth Clay Rings Rock| Examiner.com

22 Jun

The weather was especially supportive in my efforts to take a trip to the beach. A group of us (& Mandy) went to Venice Beach in hopes of relaxation, entertainment and excitement (Well…it is Venice). We had no idea we would run into Beth Clay who was previously a very popular florist who resided in Nashville, TN working with some of country music’s biggest stars. She use to carefully and creatively craft floral arrangements for weddings and special occasions. Beth is now a transplant here in Los Angeles, where she produces jewelry and sells them at the Venice Beach strip.

Beth creates unique ring creations using wire, bottle caps, guitar picks and more. Her creations have quickly started a buzz and are now sold in Texas. The ability to twist and alter the wire is what makes her rings so unique and inspirational. Perhaps, her extensive experience in floral arrangements provided her with the natural creative insight to produce fashionable jewelry that attracts an array of customers.

I woke up bright and early for a coffee date [I really love them]. The weather once again has been pretty tricky so I went for comfort in my ensemble. Today I felt like reflecting a business casual look. It was a potential business opportunity and I knew a suit and tie wouldn’t cut it. I think this look worked for the occasion.

I’m wearing:

Vintage jewelry from my Grammie

Charles Albert ebony leather studded brogues

Silence + Noise Navy cropped blazer

Red MAC Amplified Heartless lipstick

Sandy Wheat colored cap sleeved blouse by noble u

Back in Black: AMANDA BROOKS on the Return of the Simple Black Heel

After so many seasons of escalating heel heights (culminating with Lady Gaga‘s 12-inch platforms at the 2011 CFDA awards), it’s refreshing to remember how chic a single-sole black heel can be. Whether it’s a sandal, pump or bootie, on a stiletto or a wedge, this simple style has never looked so appealing.

Jill Zarin in THEIA

Do you watch Real Housewives of NYC? If not, no worries, but Jill Zarin is a popular reality T.V. star who attended the 6th Annual MADE in NY Awards this past week. She posed for the camera wearing a midnight stretch taffeta THEIA cocktail dress. I couldn’t help but love the sweetheart design and ruched fabric compliments her figure. This little black dress is perfect for women of all shapes and sizes. There is a built in stretch corset that supports the bust and minimizes the waist. If you want the look then check out the deets below.

What: THEIA Ruched Cocktail Dress

Unplug Summer with 5 Stylish Steals
-
The weather has perked up and so should your personal style! True, summer doesn’t begin until June 21, 2011 but you can beat the heat by getting a head start on your seasonal shopping. There are so many fantastic finds I had to share at least five.
Ballet Flats
Popular shoe designer, Sam Edelman has created a must-have revamped ballet flat, that’s seemingly perfect for every woman this summer. I’m in love with the ‘Beatrix’ blush colored flat with a festive cluster of studs. The shoe is perfect for your everyday errands and neutral enough to compliment various ensembles.
Black Dress
Carissa Rose designs professional, tailored and empowering frocks that are sure to fit every woman’s shape.  The Tara Fit-Flare Dress is a perfect example of a stylish piece that can go from work to the Downtown LA Artwalk. Its classic color will easily shift from day to evening wear.
Must Read
Everyone needs to pick up a book this summer even if it’s just to borrow a recipe. Kim Haasarud, founder of Liquid Architecture has put out a new book, 101 Mojitos & Other Muddled Drinks. If you intend on arranging a summer party or even entertaining friends why not do it in style? This book offers exciting ways to creates delicious drinks. Hassarurd gushes that,” It is about combining ingredients to create a sensation on the palate and entice all the senses with a combination of flavors, textures, aromas and garnishes.” You can’t forget the garnishes so don’t forget the book.
Ring
Hand candy is my ‘fave’ and Cantamessa, has launched their newest aquatic-themed collection that’s perfect for a summer soiree. I adore the pieces and especially the details of the squids, medusas and all the other fish. The white encrusted jellyfish will certainly make a statement and get the attention of admirers.
Summer Scarf
If you live near the water you probably have a ton of scarves but Scarves.com has an entire site devoted to your every scarf need. The orange linen sheer shawl is a definite winner. This scarf exudes excitement and adventure. You’ll love the fringed ends and the airy feel. Its functionality is perfect for Los Angeles sunny yet ever-changing weather and adds color to your ensemble.
